This project was made with a Grade 1 group, following the topic "Ducking for Cover" in school. 

 

Materials

MANY MANY magazines!

Scissors

Glue

NO pencils!

 

I prepared three piles of torn out magazine pages for the background, middelground and foreground.

The children chose freely from those piles. The only requirement was to create a "Home".

 

It was quite tricky to explain the difference between creating a collage or just arranging elements unconnected on a piece of paper. It took 2 long classes, but in the end most children understood how to create a home considering the different layers.

And they turned out absolutely amazing.
