This is a challenging project as it includes using a ruler in a confident way, which is a bit tricky for 1st Graders.
Materials;
Paper in different colours
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors
Glue
Step 1: The demonstration of the project is crucia! Repeat several times slowly so the children really understand how you get straight measured lines on a piece of paper.
I started out with sqaures measuring 20 cm x 20 cm; 15 cm x 15 cm; 10 cm x 10 cm, 5 cm x 5 cm.
Step 2: Once they have all the straight lines in place they cut them out and arrange the squares from big to small, however they want to.
I made this project at my daughter's school in Grade 1 and her teacher had the brilliant idea of displaying the art with the children's quotes. This made the project even more personal as they really thought about it. I absolutely love that idea. Thank you 1G.!
